In a significant boost to its economic standing, the United Kingdom has been ranked as the second most attractive country for investment, trailing only the United States. This finding comes from PwC’s annual survey, which polled nearly 5,000 chief executives across 109 countries.

Record-Breaking Ranking

This is the UK’s highest position in the survey’s 28-year history, moving up from fourth place in 2024. The UK was favoured by 14% of CEOs for future capital investments, surpassing economic powerhouses like China, Germany, and India. The United States maintained its lead with 30% of the vote.

Government’s Response

Chancellor Rachel Reeves expressed optimism, stating, “These latest results show global CEOs are backing Britain and the UK is one of the most attractive destinations for international investment.” She emphasised that such investments are crucial for driving economic growth and improving living standards across the nation.

Strategic Engagement at Davos

To capitalise on this positive sentiment, both Chancellor Reeves and Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds attended the World Economic Forum in Davos. Their agenda included meetings with key business leaders, such as JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon and Jo Taylor, President of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan. Reeves highlighted the importance of these engagements, saying, “Business leaders and investors need to know that the UK is where their businesses will flourish, so I’m meeting them face to face in … .”

Economic Outlook
